Alpine Meadows
Friday 29 April 1994

Weather

Warm with bright sun.

Conditions

Typical spring skiing. There was a dump of snow at the beginning of the week and freezing temperatures overnight maintained the condition of snow reasonably well. Early in the morning, the snow was icy hard and off the groomed runs, was very difficult. As the sun moved round the mountain, the snow softened up and during the period before it got too soft was velvet smooth.

The Story of the Day

Top to bottom skiing (which is just as well as there are no downloading lifts at Alpine). Good snow coverage almost everywhere, lifts restricted primarily because of lack of patrons. The season lasted two more weeks and then a warm spell with some rain washed away virtually all of the snow.
